What’s Wrong (With the Way I Love)

I lay in my bed
in love with you.
Damn love!
I’ve spent many months,
beating my brains out,
trying to identify this
wretched, glorious endeavor.
And then, through tear-drenched cheeks,
I realized:
it is the patient, restless longing
of wanting you every single day—
even with all this distance and silence—
with no way for you
to actually receive it.
But, you are its only destination.
And so, I will sit tight
in my yearning desire,
wanting you infinitely
and without expectation.
