Most all people fall in love.
They do it all the time.
But the reason love tends to fail
pends on a single, parallel line.
L number 1 splits in half,
then gets garnished with a dot,
taking the fall to fail,
which happens quite a lot.
That L in fall becomes an I–
an ego trap from the start.
No one wins in fall or fail.
You’re just left with a damaged heart.
So ask a penny for a layman’s thoughts.
For a poet, I’d haggle a dime,
because love is never descending.
In true love, you rise and climb.

Thank you for re-posting my work. I’m glad you enjoyed the poem.
