Deah Caldwell Poetry

When you find everything you’ve ever wanted,
but how could you have ever known?
Amidst all this destruction–
when you’re just rag and bone–
she collected beams of starlight
and everything you already are,
saving them for when you’ll understand,
safely collected in her heart’s jar.
Once your mind is de-cluttered,
she’ll take the lid off just for you.
She’ll give you back your sunbeams;
because, that’s what true friends do.
