patchWORK

Some say you were:

broken, bent,
mangled, and twisted.
Soft spoken, won’t relent,
hard to wrangle, and blacklisted.
Fractured, disheveled,
frayed, and torn.
Hard to capture, un-leveled,
betrayed, and worn.
But, I saw scraps of fabric
to make the most beautiful patchwork.
I can show you how to stitch,
but you’ll have to do the work.
Because, all quilters know:
every knit in every fold
will eventually create a blanket
to protect against the bitter cold.
